Autumn Bruise

Autumn Bruise is a piece of interactive fiction about entering a forest's dream, and asking why the leaves change their colours. Featuring real facts about leaves, evocative public domain art, and unprovable speculations about trees.

Length: ~2000 words (ca. 10 minutes)

Background

This game was conceived, written and programmed in the span of 11 days by myself, and is the second game I've made in Unity, as a way to force myself to learn Unity 2D and Inkle's Ink language for interactive fiction. Hopefully laying the way for future projects to be more about learning the intricacies of interactive fiction, rather than figuring out how buttons work.

Still, while I made it for me and my learning, I hope there is something there for you to enjoy. If not, well there is always the next project.

Install instructions

HTML (recommended):  Just click the 'Run Game' button above to load and play the game on desktop or mobile.

HTML offline: You can open this game in the itch.io app to dowload and run it for offline use. Unfortunately Unity WebGL games cannot just be run by opening their index.html file, so opening the files in the file explorer and opening them won't really work.

Windows .exe: download the zip folder on windows, unpack, and then simply run the .exe file.
